Think about what you're passionate about. It can be anything. Like for example, my husband Raz and I own a 2001 (Crimson Red) Corvette Convertible. Quite technically, it's more his baby than mine. He is in love with this car. But it's not only the car, it's the culture and the following of the drivers that makes it so much fun to own one. It makes him proud to be a member of a group of people who are very human in their approach to life. Vette owners have this intercultural solute to each other, they wave when they see each other on the road. I tried doing that with other Saturn Vue owners and I get ignored! The majority of Vette owners are very friendly people.
Raz shared a story with me about when he was at the doctor's office today and a little boy saw his car. The little boy was so excited talking to Raz about the car that Raz asked him if he'd like to sit in the car. And so he did. Well, Raz made this little boy's day! The little boy walks into the doctor's office and tells everybody in the waiting room what he just experienced.
There are many stories like the following Corvette Forum Story that happen with Vette owners. It means more when you do something that lights up another persons life through a hobby that you have. You don't feel it's charity. You don't feel it's contrived and especially, you don't feel it's an obligation. Your feeling of giving feels free because it comes from your heart. It's what I mean in the "Love What You Do" portion of our slogan. Love what you do is applied to any one action in your life, it's not reserved for a career model only. When you love what you do, you are more inclined to speak about it and share what you've learned from your experiences.
Get involved with a charity that highlights a personal interest. Quite frankly, sometimes doing things for other people is not a motive enough for people. But when it's done through a hobby just like the Corvette Forum Story it carries an entirely different meaning.
What is it that you love to do? Go out and find those things in common with others and it will light a fire in others as you move through life.
